Abseil at Berry Head attracts 50 people

The Friends of Brixham Library (FoBL) recently enjoyed abseiling off Berry Head into the quarry, over an 80’ drop. The event was arranged with Grenville House Outdoor Education Centre to raise funds to improve library facilities. 25 people took part with many friends coming along to provide support; the youngest participant was 7 and the oldest in their 70’s.

Paul wasn’t the only novice, but even the people who were nervous went down successfully and had a great sense of achievement afterwards.

Jenny Harriman, Chair of FoBL, said “It was a super event, a lovely sunny morning, lots of good humour and everyone enjoyed the experience. As many of us are older it was a great chance to try this challenge which youngsters take for granted. We hope to have collected about £1,000 when all monies are in and welcome further donations. A photo of each participant will be on the display in Brixham Library.”
